Lessons

When I lived in St Louis I had 35 private Saxophone, Clarinet and Flute students after school. I’d drive to their homes to teach 5 days a week. Nowadays I primarily teach at my home in Sonoma. I do drive to Napa or Marin to give Lessons if needed.
Many studies have shown all the benefits of studying a musical instrument let alone the added benefit of private lessons. Its no secret that this will effect other academic studies and overall ability to learn in a positive way.
My own story is that I went from bare beginner on Saxophone and clarinet  to a professional in 4 years in college. It wasn’t easy,it took lots of work and the help of many gifted teachers. But my message is that you can learn quickly with focused training.
When I start with a new student I always let the interests of the Student drive the lesson. Its all about setting and fulfilling YOUR goals.Having had great teachers myself and going to Berklee College of Music has given me a wealth of information to pass on and YOU”LL HAVE FUN. We focus on Tone, Time, Technique, Theory, Tunes and Transcribing.

Lessons are 50 dollars an hour or 30 a half hour.More if I drive to a lesson. If you have friends who you’d like to include in a lesson I’m glad to do group teaching for the same price. I also have a  Zoom 2  recorder and if you bring an SD card I’m happy to record our lessons so you can hear and remember all that is said or demonstrated.

In addition to private instruction I have run Workshops and Masterclasses for Saxophone and Jazz Ensemble.

This is an exercise in Groove. Adding an authentic sounding funk or rock feel to your improvised lines. Also how to fit in with a rhythm section.
